Marvel did a thing which most movies will not even dare to do EVER!

Death scene of Iron Man

Alright, so our very favorite Tony Stark has died in the last movie of the Avengers, where we could see the “Big Three” together in the screen.

The “Big Three” of the Avengers

If you remember, in the world of DC, the movie, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, they killed the face of DC, aka Superman during a fight against Doomsday.

Death of Superman

In the very next movie, Justice League, they were forced to bring back Superman back to life, with the excuse that Stephenwolf was too strong for the rest of the League.

I call it an “excuse”, because, if you look deeply in the matter, you will see only one reason: DC couldn’t do without their face.
They badly needed Superman to attract audiences!

Escape of Jason Bourne

In the movie, The Bourne Ultimatum, starring Matt Demon, they killed Jason Bourne, by showing him drowning in the river after being shot.
However, they could not stick to the death of the hero, and Bourne survived, after encountering a mortal bullet shot at his chest, and falling into a river from a considerable height!

Death of captain, James T.Kirk

In the movie, Star Trek II, starring Chris Pine, one of the main characters was the captain, James T. Kirk. He was seen dying due to the exposure to high radiation levels, towards the end of the movie, while saving his ship.
However at the end, Nicholas Meyer could not stick to his death, to bring in the next sequel, Star Trek 3, and had to miraculously revive the protagonist, in a way which would seem most impractical to any medic.
Thus the “hero” did not die, and we “breathed a sigh of relief”!

Death of Jack Harper

In the movie, Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise, the main character, Jack Harper dies, in a nuclear explosion, while trying to bomb the very thing, which gave him being and used to order him to do chores.
The dead is dead! Forget him, keep him dead, but no!!
The director, Joseph Kosinski does not want the audience to leave the hall, with a gloomy face!
At the end, we see a duplicate of Jack Harper, another version of him, who is alive, and who is a perfect substitute for the original one.
Now, here the director played pretty clever. He already showed us a look-alike of the protagonist, and in the end, killed the original, and, brought the look-alike in limelight, making the thing all balanced.

Now, Marvel Comics stood as an exception. They killed the very man who used to attract audiences, the man who is behind the magnanimous $22.56 billion in the Box-Office, the very man who is the Face of MCU!

THEY KILLED THE IRON MAN.

Poster of Iron Man (2008)

Tony Stark started the MCU. The first film of Marvel was Iron Man (2008). Thus Downey started the relay race, taking the batton in his hand, with the huge responsibility of beating the Superman movie (1978).

And, more importantly he succeeded sufficiently, and the movie was a major hit. MCU almost became an etched name in the hearts of the lovers of superhero movies.

$242.47 million! The total worth of every Iron Man movie, totaling to 3 in number.
$37.33 million less than the world’s largest (now 2nd largest) grossing movie of all times! That’s the height of un-achievable success.

His improvised line “I am Iron Man” changed the course of flow of MCU for good, and in an excellent way, and I am sure MCU will ever remain grateful to him for that sudden improvisation.

That line became a kind of identity of Tony Stark.
Anyone tells you the name “Stark”, and the line immediately strikes your mind.

The famous “snap”

And now, he is dead, killed by the “snap”, to save the world.
And, more importantly, he is dead for good. There has been a proper funeral of him, and he is never again going to return again on-screen for MCU.

And most importantly, MCU, as well as the audiences know that Iron Man, or better Tony Stark can never be replaced.

The dialogue heightening Tony’s stature

They made Happy Hogan tell in the Spiderman (2019) movie that “Nobody could live up to Tony. Not even Tony himself”!

That’s a very powerful dialogue from the mouth of a side character.

That’s the thing Marvel had the guts to do.
Kill the hero.
Break the myth, “The hero can never die, even if he is bombed in-front of all”!

Tony Stark was not a mere hero. He was “the hero”.
The man, who made us dream about super-heroes, the man, who properly brought in a new genre of films in Hollywood: Superhero.

The man, who showed us what a “superhero” is like!
